The Black Hand

Led personally by Commander Phaeron, the Black Hand specializes in operations where survival is unlikely and restraint is not an option. Their preferred weapons are fire, explosives, and anything capable of reducing entire swarms to ash. The Black Hand is composed largely of Helldivers who have been criminally charged, condemned, or declared unstable by Super Earth command. Helldivers considered too dangerous, too disobedient, or too broken to serve in normal formations. Rather than execution or imprisonment, they are given one final opportunity: Die in service to Democracy and gain some small amount of redemption.

Those who join the Black Hand are not heroes. They are the soldiers who step forward when Democracy requires something unforgivable to be done. When the fires finally burn out, the Black Hand leaves behind only two things: Ash and silence.
