HD2Clans has continued its unbelievable growth. We're past 750 clans now, who have together created more than 1,300 clan operations via our Melchior-1 bot, totaling 8,700+ players and 130,000+ mission reports! It's been a while since you heard from us - and we bring good news.
V5.0 is the largest update in HD2Clans history, and it arrives May 1st.
The update is big enough that one newsletter can't do it justice, so we're breaking the reveal into a series. This first entry is about what's changing across the site. The next few entries will cover what's coming to The Hangar, which has been quietly growing into its own full-fledged section of HD2Clans.com. Let's get into it!
Overhaul, Top to Bottom
Just about every single page on HD2Clans.com is getting a full rewrite, aimed at performance, design, and making it easier than ever for people to discover your clan, your operations, and more. The homepage has been revamped to have sleeker operation cards that surface the key information at a glance, and let you click on any operation card's dropdown to expand it and view more details.

This design philosophy has been extended to Operation pages, Clan operation stats pages, division operation stats pages, and even the 'Operation History' section of the profile pages for your Clans and Divisions.
Let's also highlight the revamped Clan Directory! Clan cards are now sleeker and show more useful info about your clan - including a slick background effect with your clan's logo on it, too. Our analytics show that the Clan Directory gets thousands of views a week, and there are a lot of people finding and joining clans via HD2Clans.com - so we want to make that experience better than ever, because our entire goal is to help people find your clan.

Your clan card now tells people when your clan was last active in submitting reports to an ongoing Order using Melchior-1 - so site visitors will always be able to see which clans are actually active.
Under the hood, we've also completed a deep rewrite of the most highly-trafficked pages on the site: the homepage, the Clan Directory, operation pages, and more - to optimize their performance. We've gotten a lot of supporters helping the site grow, making it possible improve page structures, optimize content delivery on pageload, and a bunch of other stuff you probably don't care about the details for. But the important bit is, after V5.0 goes live, most pages should be able to load up to 50% faster on all devices.
Again, our whole purpose is to help people find clans - so we believe that under-the-hood improvements like these, that make the user experience across the site as crisp and smooth as possible, are really important for that.
Edit Anything, Right Where You Are
Speaking of optimization, we've also taken a massive pass through basically every editing process across the site. Managing your clan, your user profile page, and a bunch of other things has always felt a little clunky. So now, you can do everything pretty much immediately, right where you are.
The old way to edit stuff: click "Edit Profile," get taken to a separate page, fill out a form, hit save, get redirected back. Same story for clans: navigate to Manage Clan, find the right tab, make your change, save, go back to see how it looks.
The new way is simpler. Click the pencil.
On your own profile, or on a clan page you manage, an Edit Page button now sits in a slim new bar at the top of the page. Click it, and editable fields light up with pencils. Tweak your clan name, motto, description, logo, tags, rank, bio, featured awards, or whatever - without ever leaving the page. Every change saves instantly. No forms, no redirects.
This works on both clan pages and user profiles, including new inline controls for rank, level, and profile picture.
On your clan's profile page, you can now even rearrange the sections - if you want to show your Operation History above your Divisions, now you can! Or if you prefer moving your News section to the bottom - now you can too. You have more control over your clan's web presence than ever before, now.
The Player Card Editor, Reimagined
The Player Card editor got a ground-up layout overhaul, with your card preview on the left and your customization flow on the right. Preview the changes live as you change armor, helmet, display name, featured awards, and logo settings. A compact action bar keeps Save, Download, and Publish in arm's reach, and a new unsaved-change detector makes it harder to accidentally lose your work.
Less scrolling. Less clutter. More tuning.
Show Your Clan to the World
Since Day 1 of launching the site, we've known that clans really wanted to be able to show off more of their artwork and designs: operation posters, clan banners, artwork that you commissioned, ship designs, and all sorts of other things that you want people to see. We are stoked to announce that when the V5.0 update goes live May 1st, multiple parts of the site will allow you to directly upload images to pages owned by your clan:
- Your clan's profile page will have an image gallery you can populate with up to 10 pictures
- If your clan has Divisions, each of their pages now has a gallery you can use too
- Webpages for every one of your clan's Operations now let you upload up to three event posters/debriefing posters
And, if you want your clan's profile page to be even better, you can even choose to make your image gallery auto-advance - so people visiting your clan page can see your images playing automatically like a slideshow.
We've heard you wanted more ways to show off your clans' artwork - and all this means that now you can. This makes it better than ever to share your clan's profile page to other people and get them talking about your clan - and showing the world what your clan is all about.
And That's Just Part 1
All this, and we haven't even started on the centerpiece of V5.0 - The Hangar, which is unveiling some world-first features. Over the upcoming announcements in the coming days, we'll cover a whole lot of brand new content for your clan.
Stay tuned. Much love,
Tyler
