Battle Report of Darius II

Chaos erupted the battlefield as millions of bugs swarmed the streets of the megacities of Buju. I hear SEAF soldiers screaming and the bug's haunting screeches. We were stationed in a building that we used as a temporary camp. We were a three man squad which includes myself, Helldiver Kaoru, and Legio Noctis member Atlas. I walk over the dusty concrete floor and lay down the map to the South Eastern side of Buju onto the table.

Kumo: "We have infested towers to the North and East blocking our skies with shriekers."
Atlas: "With all those bugs running around? You're crazy."

A group of SEAF soldiers rush through the front door presenting us with a salute.

SEAF 1: "Sir! The breach of those vile bugs has finally ended!"
Kumo: "Perfect. Cover our sides soldier. We'll be traveling to section A8 and D12 to take care of the infested towers."
SEAF 2: "Rest assured Helldiver we'll keep you safe."

I roll up the map and toss it to Kaoru. A SEAF soldier tosses my gun to me which I then attach to my belt.

Atlas: "You know we do have the digital maps right?"
Kumo: "Yeah... but I love writing on things with a marker."

Kaoru shrugs with her shoulders and walks out the door first with Atlas and I shortly following afterwards. It doesn't take long until the battlefield gets loud again. Breaches seem to love me especially. Kaoru gestures to me with a stratagem ball and throws it to the ground and a pelican swoops in delivering a Supply FRV.

We drove off into the first infested tower and the car begins taking fire from the shriekers above. I slide down the hill and press my back against the tower as I input the code for a hellbomb. Kaoru and Atlas fight the bugs that chased after us. Finally typing down the code I call in the hellbomb and arm it.

Kumo: "Hellbomb armed let's go!"

We run back up the hill into the FRV and drive off far from the sound of the hellbomb blowing the entire building down to rubble. The tires screech loudly ramping off broken roads. Crunching bugs down after running them over.

Kumo: "Good call on the FRV. Don't know where we'll be without it."
Atlas: "I freaking hate bugs."

Kaoru spins the steering wheel wildly as we drift onto our final destination. I hop out of the FRV and begin shooting at bugs crawling through the alleyways and holes. Warriors and Alpha Commanders tear through the SEAF soldiers with there claws with ease. Hive Guards act as vanguards pushing forward to protect their unholy brethren. Shriekers swoop down on Kaoru and Atlas only missing them by an inch. I sprint down to the building and input another hellbomb stratagem along the way. Although a Hunter from behind jumps through the crowd to slash me across the side of my chest.

Grunting in pain I kick the Hunter to the ground and pull out my Talon to deliver three quick laser shots to it's head. I press my hand against my wound and hold it there as it quickly feels warmer. Kaoru rushes down afterwards and provides me a stim through her supply pack. I spit out blood and call down the Hellbomb and arm it shortly after.

Boom The final building crumbles down with all the other bugs in the area. Their blood curdling screeches slowly falling to silence. I limp towards the back seat of the FRV as we drive to extract.

Kumo: "Fuck...! Those bastards hurt."

I remove my helmet and sit back on the seat while trying to catch my breath. Turning my head to the window I see the ruined city and somehow reminded of my home. Reminded of my Mother who lives peacefully back on Super Earth. I blink my tears away and put my helmet back on.

Kumo: "We fight to keep our loved ones safe back home... We fight to keep them safe..."

I grip my Talon tightly and watch as my hands shake. I'm afraid, but I have to keep going. That's what I tell myself anyways. The FRV comes to a halt in front of the extract. Atlas jumps out to start it.

Atlas: "A minute and a half."
Kumo: "Start up defenses, I can already hear them approaching South-East."

Atlas sets up with their AMR. Kaoru calls down a gatling sentry. I bring in my Breakthrough Mech. Once the mech lands I hop into it and try my best to get comfortable. My hands grip the two controllers for the arms and the visual screen inside comes to life. The mech horn blares loudly and the mechanical legs shake the mech with each step forward. As if on cue a breach breaks open down the street as if the bugs know this is their last time to feast. The mech feels as it comes to life as I control it to fire and bash every bug that ever comes close. Even Chargers can't do anything when I bash the shield into them, yelling at the top of my lungs as if I became the mech itself. A Bile Titan catches me off guard and strikes one of my arms off. I grit my teeth and quickly eject before the next strike Titan pierces through the mech afterwards.

Diving backwards from the mech before it explodes I cover my face as the Titan readies it's bile at me knowing it'll engulf me completely. But the sounds of the Pelican rings through my ears as it shoots down the Titan splashing its brain matter all over the pavement. Atlas grabs me from my shoulders and pulls me up from the ground.

Atlas: "Pelican is here! Let's go!"
Kumo: "I'm moving!"

Kaoru covers Atlas and I from the bugs on our way back until we all dive into the Pelican. I press my back to the walls of the Pelican and pull out my Talon to shoot any bugs trying to hop inside. Kaoru bangs the door in the Pelican to signal him and the door finally closes. The jets of the Pelican burst out loudly as we finally take flight into the safety of space. I remove my helmet and exhale loudly in relief.

Kumo: "We gotta bring more of those experimental stims. They really work."
Atlas: "Well that's why we need more samples!"
Kumo: "Yeah, yeah, I got it."

Kaoru hands me another stim to aid my pain. I take it from her with a grateful nod and press it to my neck.

Kumo: "Next time we'll bring in more than just us three. There must have been a malfunction with the reports because in no way was that planet a low resistance."
Pelican-1: "Approaching SES Forerunner of Dawn. Thank you for your continued service."

The Pelican lands in the landing bay area of the Super Destroyer and the three of us walk up the elevator platform to be greeted by sparks and confetti.
