History so Far :
The Gunvald people as they are known today came from an extinct Polish culture which originated on Super Earth and disappeared somewhere after the Great War. The culture itself was created after the Polish resistance escaped Super Earth alongside other oppressed eastern ethnic groups and established a home on an arctic world they decided to call Gunvald. In the following decades the Polish culture would slowly mix with the eastern ones slowly creating a new culture based on hard work and an unyielding spirit.
Unfortunately following the conclusion of the first galactic war Super Earth became interested in the human civilization on the surface of the terraformed planet and sent the S.E.A.F to bring it under the Super Earth banner. With the people of Gunvald lacking any army they had to submit and become a part of the Super Earth Federation.
The following decades were filled with attempts of destroying the Gunvaldish culture and Super Earth oppression. All this tension eventually erupted when the Morgunson Corporation began buying out all Gunvald businesses, leading to widespread poverty on the planet as the domestic production was taken away from the planet. This caused mass protests which soon turned to a full scale rebellion once Morgunson’s private corporate security force got involved. Seeing the situation as dangerous for their authority the Super Earth Federation deployed the S.E.A.F forces once more on the planet, beginning the First Corporate War.
The war went on for a year with the people of Gunvald employing guerilla warfare along with artillery based tactics to inflict massive casualties on the S.E.A.F army. The losses were so great in fact that Super Earth had to order the Morgunson corporation to leave the planet entirely to begin negotiations with the rebellion on Gunvald.
In the end Super Earth drafted a treaty in which moderate autonomy was given to Gunvald in exchange for Gunvald's stay in the Federation.
With the conflict over, the people of Gunvald needed to unite their planet in some way to resist Super Earth’s influence, and since the creation of a nation was impossible under the treaty the people of Gunvald came up with something different, the Gunvald Corporation. The corporation would ensure security of the Gunvald people while appearing as a Super Earth company, and after a deal between all Gunvald leaders was signed the Gunvald Corporation was given all power over Gunvald.
The following century was filled with poverty but development for Gunvald with a population of barely a billion turning into 30 billion with Gunvald becoming one of the most populated worlds in the galaxy. The Gunvald economy also developed in this period with the Corporation creating the signature Gunvald gun printing technology which opened the market up for a flood of decently made weapons which were cheaper than anything on the market. The Gunvald Corporation became so successful in its peak that it managed to gain rights over the entire Sagan Sector, but unfortunately everything went down hill for Gunvald after Super Earth begun to feel threatened by the success of the Gunvald Corporation and decided to impose massive sanctions on the Corporation reducing it in the market and causing a massive economic depression in the Corporation. This state of the Gunvald Corporation persisted till the year 2184 where small problems with Terminid farms escalated into a Terminid pandemic and the Automatons made a surprise invasion at the western part of the galaxy.
Having an unprepared standing army the Super Earth government used all they had on hand to fight the newly created threats, but with the Morgunson Corporation’s static weapon selection it became impossible to hold the enemy. It was then that a venerated General of the Super Earth Federation by the name Admiral Skulldome happened to have a conversation with one of his helldivers that happened to be from Gunvald. Following the conversation Admiral Skulldome pawed way for a resurgents of Gunvald on the market with notable weapons like the BR-14 Adjudicator and MG-206 Heavy Machine Gun being added to the armory of Super Earth thanks to the return of the Gunvald Corporation to the market.
With the Gunvald Corporation back on the international stage the Corporation began searching for clients to possibly profit from and with relations with Super Earth damaged the Gunvald Corporation looked outwards for clients. In the coming months Gunvald would supply different factions across the galaxy with the notable ones being the Chaosdiver Rebellion, Mercdivers and other Corporations. Eventually though the Automatons would begin to threaten the Gunvald Corporation, which forced the Corporation to fund massive rearmament projects to modernize the Gunvald military. Gradually the Gunvald military would become one of the most powerful militaries in the galaxy and would fight on both the Automaton and Terminid front. Eventually the Super Earth Federation would see the rising power in the region and would attempt to subjugate the Gunvald Corporation. This would result in the conflict known as the Second Corporate War, which Super Earth would lose following a surprising attack by the Automatons.
All was great for the Corporation, but all of that was about to change when the Corporate elections began. All began well, but in the middle of elections it became incredibly obvious that the new candidate of the Gunvald Populist Movement, Mr. Gunvald, would claim victory over the old president from the Progressive Development Movement, Arthur Gunvaldis. Knowing his defeat was close Arthur Gunvaldis seized power and disassembled the Gunvald Corporate Council, making himself a dictator of the Corporation. Immediately many foreign and internal factions became enraged at the sudden takeover of power by the dictator which prompted many sides to take action against the Gunvald dictator.
Many actions were taken to disrupt the plans of the dictator, but with them having little to no effect the dictator felt confident enough to publicly reveal his alliance with the Automatons to destroy the Super Earth Federation as revenge for the centuries of oppression. Immediately following the declaration of the message the Gunvald Liberation Army would be suddenly attacked and almost completely destroyed on Wezen by the Automatons, leading to the death of many high ranking generals of the resistance. For a moment things seemed desperate with the internal gunvald military elements rebelling against the dictator and mass riots all pointing towards a beginning of a bloody civil war, but thankfully because of the chaos on the planet a foreign faction, known as the Angelic Rebellion led by their leader Pondera, managed to avoid Gunvald’s orbital defences and successfully assassinate the Gunvald dictator before things could get any worse.
Following the death of the dictator, rule over Gunvald was returned to Mr. Gunvald who would begin work on restoring Gunvald. From the beginning Mr. Gunvald had problems with Gunvald fractured into many different factions with their own ideology fighting for control. Mr. Gunvald attempted to secure the state of Gunvald with many referendums being hosted as a way to not cause a civil war. The referendums were really successful with the Gunvald Corporation being transformed into the Gunvald Republic with many social changes being made as a result of the referendums.
Sadly luck would once again turn against Gunvald as the Legion Resurgence and Super Earth invasion would stretch Gunvald thin over the galaxy, leaving it vulnerable to domestic problems which the Path of Progress party would use to its advantage. Having been infiltrated by Super Earth’s Ministry of Truth not long ago the Path of Progress party would stage many riots with their cover being to protest Gunvald’s abandonment of Varylia 5 once the legion begun to fight the local S.E.A.F, leading to major civilian deaths, but in reality the Path of Progress plotted to destroy Gunvald and manipulate the new Minister of truth Pondera, killing both birds with one stone. Their plan went well at the beginning with Pondera falling for their bluff, allowing them to invade Gunvald as it suffered a threeway coup on its government, but in the final stage of their plan the Ministry of Truth failed as during the attempt on Mr. Gunvald’s life, Mr. Gunvald managed to start a hidden camera in his office which captured his entire conversation between him and the Ministry of Truth agent in charge of the Path of Progress party. This revelation shook Super Earth politics as multiple ministries began to accuse the Ministry of Truth of going behind their backs against their interest. This gave Gunvald time to reestablish its independence and drive off all the remaining Ministry of Truth units on the planet, but having suffered such an internal blow and having been betrayed by their trusted ally the Gunvald Republic lost any semblance of stability.
Despite the best efforts of the three party government the Gunvald became incredibly weakened and with other foreign factions seeing their opportunity the planet of Gunvald came under attack. Without warning multiple factions would suddenly attack Gunvald and with the government unprepared to face any force the Gunvald military found itself in a critical situation as the invading force was too much to handle by the disorganized army. Many allies came to the aid of the Gunvald Republic, but some turned their back on the republic leaving Gunvald in a disadvantage during the invasion. The Gunvald Army fought hard for every inch of ground with their allies doing everything in their ability to help, but in the end the attacking forces were too much to handle leading to Gunvald’s fall.
Following Gunvald’s surrender the planet would be temporarily placed under foreign rule under which the Gunvald engineers would be forced to experiment with Illuminate technology with an A.i system known as “Mercy Killer”. However the occupation would not last, as soon the Automatons would invade the planet, sensing its weakened state. As the Automatons made landfall on the planet all factions with different motives threw themselves on Gunvald. Some tried to save it, some tried to conquer it, but during this chaos one small elite squad known as the Hussar Squad went to Gunvald for a different reason. Being tasked by an unknown individual the Hussars broke into an Automaton ship over Gunvald and stole a High Processing Core which was a vital connection between the local Automaton invasion force. Following their theft of the core the Hussars broke into the facility housing the “Mercy Killer” program and as per orders of the mysterious individual and installed the core into the system which was connected to the prototype Illuminate cognitive connector that was being tested on the Mercy Killer A.i.
When the Hussars connected the core to the system a powerful psychic pulse emanated across the planet, interfering with all technology across the Gunvald system. From this pulse the “Mercy Killer” A.i began to rewrite itself with both Automaton and Illuminate parts melting into a new A.i entity which soon took over all technology around Gunvald, including the Automaton Fleet around the planet. Using the enslaved Automaton force the A.i would begin evacuating the entire planet as other factions continued to fight one another blindly in the chaos.
It didn’t take long for the 30 Billion people of Gunvald to be evacuated onto Automaton ships thanks to the enslaved Automatons and remaining Gunvald army, but with so much chaos on Gunvald and the news of a rogue A.i reaching Super Earth’s High Command the Super Earth fleet decided to resort to desperate measures in order to destroy the rogue A.i and restore control over and ordered an ICBM bombardment on the surface of Gunvald to wipe out everything including the A.i. Fortunately the rogue A.i expected this turn of events and before the surface of Gunvald was struck by nuclear strikes the A.i moved the fleet out of Gunvald and into space on the brims of the Milkyway Galaxy thus saving the people of Gunvald from extermination but leaving their home planet under the control of the Super Earth Federation.
Following their escape both the A.i and the people of Gunvald were unsure of what to do as their home was lost and there was no ally which would accept 30 Billion people on their planet, however the rogue A.i that saved the Gunvald people would be contacted by a mysterious person via psychic means and would be given coordinance to a wormhole at the edge of the Milky way Galaxy. After considering other possibilities the Gunvald remnants entered the wormhole and were transported to the Pinwheel Galaxy 21 million light-years away from the Super Earth Federation.
In the new Galaxy the people of Gunvald settled and made a new home for themselves, with the rogue A.i that brought them there taking on the name IPOS and declaring itself the Eternal President of the new Free Gunvald Republic. Since then the Gunvald Republic has claimed a chunk of space in the Pinwheel Galaxy and discovered that the new Galaxy might not have been the empty place that so many people thought it would be. Between discovering new species of aliens and finding Illuminate relics in the Pinwheel Galaxy it is clear that this is not the end of the road for the people of Gunvald and that their strife might just be beginning.
As after only a few months after withdrawing from the galaxy I.P.O.S would mysteriously disappear leaving Gunvald in a state of shock. With no one to help the people of Gunvald many factions rose up to take power over the state and thanks to the intervention of Gunvald allies the monarchist one came out on top. Wasting no time the new monarchy quickly began taking over the Gunvald state and soon all rebelling forces that refused to recognize the new state were arrested by the new government. Soon after their victory the government declared an A.I free monarchy and appointed Aleksander Nowrocki as their Emperor of the new Gunvald Commonwealth. Aleksander didn’t take long before restoring the stability of Gunvald starting with restoring basic infrastructure, allowing the Gunvald state to function. With I.P.O.S gone there was also another problem of military dysfunction as during the reign of the AI the military became primarily filled by robots, which led to a decrease in military competence and manpower numbers. A month would be spent reorganizing and modernizing the Gunvald Armed Forces, but in the end the Gunvald army would be once again capable of defending itself. Following the shaping of the military Gunvald would spend the next months reconnecting with allies and resuscitating their economy in relative peace.
It was not until 6th of May 2186 where Gunvald would discover Illuminate military installations near its borders alongside Illuminate fleet signatures. Immediately the Emperor declared a state of emergency for all of Gunvald while calling for all allies to its defence. This proved to be a good call as only 3 days later the Illuminate launched a full scale attack on Gunvald just as all their allies arrived to assist. Thankfully because of the army and navy reforms done by the Emperor the Gunvald military held firm against its enemy and although ground was being lost almost everywhere the Gunvald utilized its tactics of maximizing enemy casualties while minimizing theirs. During the grueling battles allies like the Prussian Kingdom of Alamak, Cave Filling Corporation, Rosenrot Company and the Melevelon Alliance would shine as their help would become critical in many battles which had the chance to change the war. This state of the war would continue for days as Gunvald used scorched earth tactics against the Illuminate while making their casualty and equipment loss numbers unsustainable, however on the 15th as the Illuminate were getting close to Gunvald’s core worlds the Emperor ordered the Gunvald military to retreat to a given defensive line and hold it no matter the cost. The battle that proceeded on the line was the most brutal fight the Gunvald military had to endure since the loss of its home planet in the past. Many last stands and endless shellings of Illuminate forces were done during the 5 days of desperate fighting, but in the end the Illuminate couldn’t maintain the offensive and just as they were about to dig in for defence Super Earth capitalized on the weakened Illuminate and launched an offensive of their own on the Illuminate in the Milkyway Galaxy. This of course destroyed any ability for the Illuminate to create a coherent frontline in the Pinwheel Galaxy and as a result allowed Gunvald to commit all its forces to a desperate charge at the Illuminate while they were in shock from the double attack. The assault lasted 5 days in which many Gunvald soldiers had to fight multiple days without sleep and Gunvald units were pushed to the breaking point. However thanks to this push Gunvald reclaimed all its territory alongside taking a massive chunk from the Illuminate empire. When the assault finally came to a crawl the Gunvald Commonwealth attempted to reach a peace deal with the Illuminate and for the first time in recorded history the Illuminate entered diplomatic talks with another empire. The peace talks were shaky from the beginning but from the peace deal Gunvald received a massive chunk of land they occupied and a ceasing of hostility between Gunvald and the Illuminate.
Following the end of the war Gunvald struggled to assert its rule over the new Illuminate territory with many attacks by Illuminate rebels being made. Gunvald quickly realized that integration of such a different culture would be impossible and so following a meeting with a group of Squ’ith who opposed the Illuminate Empire the Gunvald Commonwealth created an Illuminate protectorate. Thanks to that act a massive burden was lifted from the shoulders of Gunvald allowing it to refocus its efforts on matters in the Milkyway galaxy.
