During the Liberation Campaign of Malevelon Creek, the SES Prophet of Supremacy received direct orders to abandon low orbit immediately due to overwhelming Automaton resistance.
Captain and crew complied… for exactly 37 seconds.
Against protocol, the destroyer remained within anti-orbital firing range long enough to recover over 3,000 Class-1 civilians from collapsing evacuation zones. Enemy artillery crippled two external batteries and left permanent scarring across the starboard hull, but the civilians were secured and extracted safely.
When questioned by High Command, the captain’s official response was simple:
“Managed Democracy does not leave its citizens behind.”
The crew of the Prophet of Supremacy was formally reprimanded for insubordination and simultaneously awarded the Medal of Patriotic Sacrifice.
