Captain Penguin was not originally going to join the GWDA, in reality, it showed up on a super destroyer with now 2nd Captain Gale, best shot on whichever side of the galaxy they show up on. after which, was not removed because no one knew what to do with it.
Penguins of course have been long extinct due to wars and enemy factions, leading many to not understand the now Captain. what is for sure is that it picked up the EAT-411 Leveller fast and has become something of a master with it.
a little known fact about the captain is their helmet, custom made from the Redacted Regiment, has a sticker made by a civilian child. the helmet is made to accommodate for the head size, beak and eyesight, initially making the penguin 100% more efficient. the cap that they wear over the helmet was given upon captain rank like many other things.
