Ramírez - Origins: From a Chaosdiver to a LATAM elite's Lead

Today, many know me as a strategist, a commander, and even a teacher... But the truth is that no one reaches the top without having gone through their own ordeal, without having endured that same inner hell where one grows stronger and rises again like a phoenix. This is my story, the LATAM's lead

The silence of Malevelon Creek was always my refuge. I grew up amid its exotic vegetation and long nights, when the stars lit up the dark rivers as if the gods were playing with fireflies. That’s where I met Lucía, my wife, my rock, my everything. We got married beneath the roots of a great, century-old tree, while the night-blooming flowers glowed like lamps. She was perfect… our life was perfect.

Sasha arrived shortly after, our little ray of light in an already beautiful world. I thought nothing could destroy our happiness. What a fool I was.

When the automatons arrived, the sky turned red. It wasn’t a war… it was a massacre. They don’t invade; they lay waste. All of Malevelon Creek was covered in blood and ashes. I watched as they ripped away lives, homes, dreams.

Lucía… Oh, God… Lucía. I couldn’t save you. We were together at home when the explosions began to shake everything. I grabbed Sasha, but… There wasn’t enough time. They burst in like metal demons. Lucía yelled at me to run, since I had Sasha, but before I could do anything… I saw her fall. Her body lay sprawled in front of me as I crawled toward the exit with Sasha in my arms. What kind of man am I if I couldn’t protect my wife?

Super Earth left us to die. Those damned bastards. They knew what was happening and sent in inexperienced Helldivers, young people who barely knew how to handle their weapons. I watched them die right before my eyes! They didn’t even stand a chance. The machines tore them apart as if they were broken toys. Sometimes I dream of their screams; screams of despair, of pain.

We civilians tried to resist, but what could we do against endless hordes of steel? We hid, dug shelters, prayed. All in vain.

The last refuge at Malevelon Creek fell that day. The machines were everywhere, and our weapons barely made a dent in them. Those damned latecomers from Super Earth sent some evacuation ships—the “pelicans.” It was chaos. People were running, screaming, dying. Sasha and I were running toward one of them when it all ended.

A bullet hit her in the leg. She fell beside me, crying, calling out to me. I shouted her name, but the gunfire forced me to retreat. I watched as she tried to get up, clinging to life, but then… one of those bastards approached. A machine with long, cold blades.

I saw it. I saw it cut right through her. My Sasha… my little Sasha…
I stood there, paralyzed. I couldn’t move. I couldn’t breathe. I could only watch as my world died right before my eyes.

I don't know how I ended up on that pelican. Someone dragged me there. I don't remember their faces, just their hands pulling me while I screamed my daughter's name. Ever since that day, I've been dead inside.

I hate Super Earth. I hate the automatons. I hate this rotten universe that lets these things happen.
Now they say I’m a rebel, a traitor. That my hatred is irrational. Irrational? Let them come tell me that to my face after seeing what I saw. After losing everything.

Day 1 after Malevelon Creek:
My life was over, but my body kept walking. The images of Lucía and Sasha, torn apart by the automatons, were all I saw when I closed my eyes. There was no purpose, only hatred. I decided I would train myself. Not to serve Super Earth, those treacherous, manipulative pigs, but to avenge my loved ones. I would destroy the automatons, but first… I had to become someone capable of doing it.

It was at the training camp that I met Samy. She was everything I wasn’t: charismatic, confident, driven. She always had a smile on her face, as if the war couldn’t touch her. I, on the other hand, avoided everyone. My social anxiety had been an open wound ever since Malevelon Creek. I didn’t want friends; I didn’t want distractions. But Samy… She wouldn’t leave me alone.

Day 10 of Training
“Ramírez, why are you always alone?” she asked me one day, with that smile of hers. “Because I don't want to talk,” I replied without looking at her. I thought she'd go away, but she came back the next day. And the day after that. She was a spark of energy that was impossible to extinguish. Even though I kept telling her to leave me alone, she kept showing up. With her clumsiness, her silly stories, and that damn charisma that was starting to break down my defenses.

Day 50 of training
Samy made me laugh for the first time in years. It was something silly—something about how she tripped over her rifle during a drill—but I couldn’t help it. She lit up when she heard me laugh and decided she wanted to make me smile more often. Against my will, she was succeeding.

Graduation as Helldivers
We both passed. She celebrated with infectious energy, while I could only think about the next step in my plan: Gain military experience, build strength, and join the Chaosdivers. Samy had no idea about my true intention, and for some reason, I didn’t want her to know.

Battles After Graduation
Our military campaigns took us to Meridia, to the Glow, to rescue children in automaton-controlled territories... Every automaton I destroyed brought me a dark sense of satisfaction, a personal revenge. But Samy was always there, worrying about me, sending messages to my superdestroyer, sharing her stories. Even though I kept my distance, I couldn’t help but grow fond of her. Over time, I opened up enough to call her a friend.
She was reckless and clumsy, but there was something about her that reminded me there was still some good left in this rotten universe.

The Chaosdiver Rebellion
When the Chaosdivers rebelled, it was my chance. I invited Samy to join our cause, but she reacted with contempt. “How can you betray Super Earth? After everything we’ve been through?” She promised not to report me, but the damage was done. I had lost something else.

The Battle of Tarsh
In Tarsh, the horror of war reached its peak. The nightmares returned; the faces of Lucía and Sasha haunted me. But my hatred for Super Earth kept me going through several operations… Until I saw Samy pointing a gun at me right in the middle of the battlefield.
“What have you done, Ramírez?” he shouted, tears in his eyes. For the first time, I saw Samy break down, and something inside me snapped as well. In his face, I saw Lucía and Sasha, reproaching me for what I had become.
A Berserker automaton appeared out of nowhere. I fired, but I didn’t stop it in time. The chainsaw severed Samy’s arm. I flew into a blind rage, cutting a path through automatons and Helldivers amid those dark swamps of dead vegetation and eternal night, until I managed to evacuate her.

The Super Destroyer
They fitted him with a robotic prosthesis, but Samy didn’t mention his lost arm or anything related to the emotional trauma. He just hugged me and thanked me for saving his life. “This war isn’t for me,” he told me. “I’m going to Calypso—they’re building very modern civilian colonies on that planet. No more war, no more weapons. I just want peace.”
To support the only important person I had left in my life, I said goodbye that day, knowing I would never see her again. She left me a letter before she left, announcing her retirement due to disability from Super Earth.

The Invasion of Calypso
Without any warning or even the slightest suspicion from those useless fools on Super Earth, the Enlightened returned and invaded Calypso—and that’s when I was thrown back into hell. Destroying every single one of those damned creatures was the only thing keeping me alive, even as I battled technology and horrors I’d never seen before—including humans mutated by those wretched squids. I searched for Samy among the survivors, but I couldn’t find her. However, the autopsies and investigations conducted after we’d defended the planet against all odds confirmed that she wasn’t among the mutants. She had to be alive. Somewhere.

The Letter
I decided to take a week to recover from the battle; after all, there was plenty of fresh cannon fodder and many veterans who were learning to fight them, and teaching those poor, unfortunate cadets how to fight if they managed to survive. During this break, I remembered Samy’s letter; I had never opened it because my head was simply a mess. When I picked it up, I found the courage to open the letter she had left me.

"Ramírez, there was always something about you that captivated me. Your mystery, your pain… And that unbreakable strength I saw even in your darkest moments. I fell in love with you, even though I knew there would never be the right time to tell you. If you ever decide to leave the chaos behind, come to Calypso. Let’s start over. And remember, fight for the innocent, for humanity. That’s the man you’re meant to be: a true hero.”

His words left me frozen. But they also ignited a new flame within me, the flame of protecting humanity.

Today
I no longer fight for revenge. I fight for myself, for Lucía, for Sasha, for humanity, for the innocent who need a hero.
I am Ramírez, a Chaosdiver. I am here to bring chaos to the enemy and true freedom to humanity, free from Super Earth’s manipulation… And to find Samy. Wherever he may be.
