The 66th Rebel Legion, in tandem with the Apostates (organisers of the operation), engaged a false flag operation on Super Earth itself during the Illuminate invasion.
The mission was to fan the flames, making use of kinetic weaponry against the Illuminate, and energy weapons against the Super Earth Armed Forces. This would make it appear as if the other side was attacking full force, drawing more aggression.
However, this did not have the desired result, as the Illuminate Great Host fleet was destroyed, and the war slowed until the Illuminate's eventual full resurgence on the Southern Galactic Front.
The Apostates declared the operation a failure, and moved on to other missions.
Operation: Atomic Death
With the recent development of "The Unlisted" - our new Black Ops division - the 66th conducted its first independent false flag operation.
We called it Operation Atomic Death. The mission was as so:
Operative Omega was sent to infiltrate Commander Imbal Gallorzza (head of D17)'s flagship, the Queen of Twilight.
Once there, they were tasked with obtaining the nuclear launch codes, and firing an ICBM at the Megafactory on Charbal-VII, wiping out large numbers of Collective and Federation forces. The mission was successful. The Cyborgs have turned up their attack tenfold, due to anger at Super Earth blowing up a city, while the SEAF are angry at DXVII for causing a friendly fire incident. The leadership of DXVII suspect Cyborg spies as the culprits, so the false flag worked successfully both ways.
However, recent comms have shown that Super Earth Intelligence has obtained an encrypted communication from our leadership to Operative Omega and has leaked it to the Freedom Alliance Comnet. This may be a bad sign.
It has been established via debrief that what actually occurred was that Operative Omega convinced a DXVII operative to install the trojan virus known as BorgVPN onto the ship's systems.
